| Above the Notch Humane Society The ATNHS is a 501c(3) nonprofit humane society, and we depend on fund raisers and donations to continue our mission of education, rescue, and spay and neuter. We are a no-kill organization, and even though we do not have a physical shelter at this time, we place hundreds of cats, dogs and other animals in loving homes every year. The Society exists to provide protection for unwanted or abused animals in Littleton and the surrounding areas of northern New Hampshire and Vermont. The Society also has a responsibility for public education in the areas of animal care and welfare. Means for accomplishing the Mission 1. Ongoing Programs: Assist in the placement of stray or unwanted animals; Provide medical treatment for stray or abused animals; Sponsor obedience classes for behavior management of pets; Provide pet food for low income families; Promote spay/neuter and rabies clinics; Develop working relationships with local veterinarians; Support foster care where appropriate. 2. Long Range Planning: If practical, future plans may include building a shelter to house homeless animals. This would be a no-kill facility. However, if an animal is deemed unadoptable, due to behavioral or medical reasons, euthanasia could be employed as a last resort. The Above the Notch Humane Society was established due to an ever-increasing need for an animal shelter for Littleton and the immediately surrounding area. In the past year, we have gained non-profit corporation status in the state of New Hampshire, gained tax-exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service (501 (c)3 status), and run our own shelter. - Read more http://www.atnhs.org/ | |

| Canine Guardians for Life Each year hundreds of thousands of companion animals end up in shelters through no fault of their own. In many instances, they are held for three days or less before their lives are ended. CANINE GUARDIANS FOR LIFE believes in the relocation of dogs from those areas of abundance to areas of need. To that end, we rescue dogs from high-kill shelters in other states and relocate them to new homes in New Hampshire. We are dedicated to saving and re-homing highly adoptable shelter dogs to caring, permanent homes ~ to provide each of them with a devoted Guardian who will guarantee their canine companion a safe and loving environment for the rest of his/her life. Every dog that is adopted from CANINE GUARDIANS FOR LIFE has already been altered, is current on all vaccinations, is heartworm-negative, and is on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. - Read more http://www.petfinder.com | |

| Fur and Feather Animal Assistance, Datil, New Mexico (NM) Fur and Feather Animal Assistance is located in a very rural county in western New Mexico. This county, the largest in the state, has no animal control, so unwanted pets are often abandoned to fend for themselves in the wild. In the fall of 2003 we took it upon ourselves to do something to help these homeless pets. Animals are housed at our own homes, kennels, and foster homes. Early in the spring of 2006 we became incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are happy to e-mail detailed photos of available pets and do consults on the phone. We also are willing to deliver animals, even out of state if the situation is right. We look forward to placing these animals in loving homes an d will dowhat it takes to help make that happen. Our adoption fees vary with each animal. We ask for the cost of neutering theanimal if it was an expense for us, or we will ask for a donation of whatever amount people can afford and is suited to | |

| Lilac Groves Pampered Pups We have been working with many shelters in the united states that need help. MANY are very crowded and have no funding so the animals there are not given very much time to be adopted. In many places the puppies are given 72 hours and adults are given 24. This is just not long enough. We have them pulled from these places and fostered until they can be transported to us. They are always vaccinated and some are even spayed and neutered before there arrival. - Read more http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/NH81.html | |

We began by matching the needs of the specific dog with the group whose mission most nearly met those needs and placing through those groups. This allowed us flexibility and the chance of finding the best forever home possible for each individual in our foster care. We are currently fostering predominantly special needs dogs or those with urgent needs. These may be dogs who have been rehabilitated from medical issues, behavioral issues, or they may simply be "older dogs." - Read more http://www.petfinder.com | |

Rescued cats are placed at our Shelter or in foster homes until a permanent home can be found.
